Baby-Vision

It's all about Baby-Vision in this house!

If we aren't talking about getting things ready for the kid, we are talking about how active the baby's being or how hungry Scrap/y is (which is about every 6-9 mins).

Understanding that the kid is going to (and is already starting to) be expensive, we have come up with a few guidelines as we get baby-ready:

1.  Not everything will be pink.  In the event that we have a boy (now or in the future) whatever large purchase we make should be able to be used as a hand-me-down.

2.  Function over fashion (more Yeti's guideline than Scrap/y's).  If it can be justified as functional, great, but fashion isn't a factor.

3.  Homework is a must!  It yields magical discounts that can only be found by the conscious consumer.  :)

So far, we are doing pretty good at staying within those guidelines.

Thanks to Ellen (well really Scrap/y's friend Alaina for pointing it out when Scrap/y missed the episode), we have procured some pretty neat little gadgets to help prevent Scrap/y from having a clutter melt down.  During her Mother's Day show, she showcased some products that we realized we needed to get.  (Note:  Scrap/y had to pitch this to Yeti, as he doesn't watch Ellen...ever!)

Our first real procural (yes that's a word) is the Mamaroo.  This bad boy is legit!

Not only does it look cool, but it was procurred under all three guidelines! After poking around the internet to see where to get it at, Buy Buy Baby had the best all-around deal. We were flying back from Hawaii into Austin, which is where the only Buy Buy Baby store near us is located. If you sign up for their email list, they give you a 20% discount off a single item. It so happened that they only had one of the multi-color (the one we wanted) left, and they held it for us!  So, after being in the air for 16+ hours, we stopped by the store to pick it up before driving 3 hours home.  How's that for dedication!

The next thing we have acquired is called an Ubbi.  It's the cat's meow of diaper pails.

Made of steel instead of plastic, it doesn't absorb diaper stench like other cans eventually do.   An added plus, the Ubbi comes in more than just white!!  We wanted ivory, which was sold out on the ubbi website.  But never fear...all Scrap/y's research led her back to Buy Buy Baby where she snagged it and two boxes of bags (this one can handle regular trash bags by the way) with a 10% coupon!

Both of these are now set up in the "coming together" nursery.

Kicking and screaming, we also finally got around to registering.  It turns out these registry lists are really helpful.  There's so much stuff out there that we were forgetting what we had decided we wanted to get!!  So that was really why we buckled down and did it.  BabysRus was way overwhelming for us, but after a few tries, we made it through the store.  Since we are now in love with Buy Buy Baby, we decided to register there too.  Although they seemed to have just as much (if not more) as BabysRus, we didn't feel overwhelmed when we went into that store...maybe it's because of the great discounts we have already gotten - who knows!
